Okay David Letterman fessed up last night with the usual sprinkling of humor we’ve all come to expect but I think this time, he has finally stepped over the line. I don’t care that Robert J. Halderman, the alleged extortionist was trying to get $2mil out of him or whether this all happened before he’s son was born (which I seriously doubt.)
“The creepy stuff was that I have had sex with women who work for me on this show,” he said. Gee isn’t that using your position as owner of the company to take advantage of employees. No matter how you dice it or try and funny it up it’s disgusting. And Letterman just isn’t that hip anymore. In fact the banter between him and his musical director Paul Schaffer is stale and redundant.
And he lied when he said ‘women’ in my office, as if there had been more than one because all the evidence that Halderman had belonged to Letterman’s former assistant Stephanie Birkitt. I think he lied to try and protect her — like she is not the first staffer everybody who watches Letterman’s show thought of.
I’m personally getting sick of the slew of public confessions. It’s ingratiating and offensive and I would love to see a boycott by his sponsors.

Letterman is fine; he never was the “Family Values” type. Yes, he probably cheated on his girlfriend now wife. But at least he does go around claiming he is Mr. “Family Values” like some of our politicians (can you just see the grin on all “Fake News” reporters/commentators). This has been a tough summer, for Dave, for our economy but at least he did not end up on the “Republican 2009 Summer of Love” list: Assemblyman, Michael D. Duvall (CA), Senator John Ensign (NV), Senator Paul Stanley (TN), Governor Mark Stanford (SC), Board of Ed Chair, and Kristin Maguire AKA Bridget Keeney (SC).
Thank you for your comment. It’s the first one on this blog! I’ll probably get over this in time but no matter how you look at it David Letterman has tarnished his image.
